Elastic Cloud Migration for Century-Old USA Poultry Processor

The challenge

The client, a 100-year-old, family-owned US poultry processor, ran Elasticsearch on-prem and needed to move roughly 30 terabytes of historical data to Elastic Cloud. The migration had to bring ingestion pipelines, dashboards, and policies along with it, and add Azure AD single sign-on for secure access.

The scale of the historical data and the need to cut over live ingestion without a gap made this more than a lift-and-shift — the team also had to stand up observability on the new environment from day one.

What we delivered

SquareShift deployed a new Elastic Cloud environment sized for the client’s workload and used snapshot-restore from Google Cloud Storage to move the historical data without touching the live ingestion path.

All custom dashboards, ILM policies, and Fleet agent configurations moved over intact, and the team configured Azure AD integration so users could sign on to the new environment with their existing credentials.

The payoff

The client’s 30-plus terabytes of historical data now live in Elastic Cloud alongside its dashboards, policies, and Fleet agents — all migrated without disrupting production. Azure AD single sign-on gives users secure, centralized access to the new environment from day one.
